Attachmate will implement a product thrust next week with the release of E-Vantage, a host-access and management system.
E-Vantage is server-based and links users to hosts using a small, mobile code application as a thin client. The server then provides connections to host systems.
The system will be compliant with Component Object Model/Distributed InterNet Architecture and Java/CORBA. It also will support the recently announced Open Host Interface Objects standard, commonly known as the OHIO standard, for host-access integration, which Attachmate and IBM submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force for approval.
Additionally, it will support JavaBeans, and a future version is intended to run on any server running a Java virtual machine.
