Seeking to reassert itself as the premier Microsoft Exchange integrator, Compaq has announced a slew of new products and services based on the platform.
The company used the recent Microsoft Exchange Conference in Boston to introduce Work Expeditor 1.1, an integrated work management suite encompassing document collaboration; workflow; and data/forms management.
According to company officials, a unique feature of Work Expeditor 1.1 is a configurable business object store based on SQL Server technology. It houses documents, forms and folders with a description of the logic behind them that users can leverage to create form-based applications.
Allan Baird, Compaq's business development director, enterprise messaging, told ARN the company expects its first local partners to be announced by mid-October, with the full Work Expeditor 1.1 channel program to be rolled out by the end of the year.
In the meantime, product enquiries should be directed to Compaq itself, Baird said.
Compaq has also announced a range of new services and tools including:collaboration services - a suite of life-cycle services to help customers plan, design and implement collaboration and workflow solutions based on Exchange and Microsoft's messaging and collaboration client, Outlook.
Microsoft Exchange utility services - a "utility" approach to managing an Exchange environment across an enterprise, based on price-per-seat costing designed to allow IT managers to focus on core competencies.
LDAP (lightweight directory access protocol) directory synchroniser utility - a directory synchronisation tool for integrating mail and messaging directories from disparate sources.
