Hewlett-Packard's current reseller of the year, Centari Systems, officially opened its new premises this month, including the first museum in Australia dedicated exclusively to HP technology and memorabilia.
The new national headquarters and Victorian state office for Centari is in the Melbourne suburb of Blackburn, just 100 metres from HP's Australasian headquarters. The new 1300 square metre facility will boost Centari's Victorian integration capacity to the point where it can build and test more than 400 PCs and servers daily.
Many senior HP executives were present at the opening, including regional managing director Bruce Thompson, who presided over the ribbon cutting ceremony and was particularly happy to launch the museum.
"The museum is a wonderful reminder of HP's many technological innovations over the years," said Thompson. "It is also a lot of fun for long-time HP employees, resellers and customers to play with some of the products we grew up with in the early part of our careers."
"Committed resellers like Centari have fuelled HP's success in Australia and abroad. HP's channel partnerships will continue to be the cornerstone of our strategy to deliver customer value," he said.
After the official opening, Lindsay Lyon (HP corporate reseller sales manager) presented Centari with its "HP Dealer of the Year Award".
The museum features HP computer and peripheral products from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Among the 90 products lovingly displayed by Centari is an HP Oscillator, the first product ever manufactured by HP. There is also a broad and growing range of old product posters, promotional materials, original product plans and audio-visual displays on HP history and HP corporate programs.
Centari asked ARN to acknowledge contributions to the museum that have been made by both its customers and HP. They are also interested in hearing from anyone who feels they have something that would be a worthwhile addition to the collection and which they may be willing to trade, sell or donate to the museum.
