After heavy testing from customers, Tech Pacific has launched its long-awaited Web-based order entry system. And Australian resellers stand to directly benefit with direct access to the distributor's massive catalogue of over 10,000 products.
The electronic order system was introduced on a trial basis two months ago to complement Tech Pac's existing online catalogue. Dubbed the Online Warehouse, the system contains product information and pricing facilities along with credit account capabilities, a 24-hour electronic ordering facility and an option to check order status.
"This facility provides a direct commerce link between our customers and Tech Pacific without the need for manual intervention," said David Cullen, Tech Pac's managing director.
"We hope the Online Warehouse will further enhance this organisation's capacity to provide fast and effective service to our resellers."
Tech Pac has already signed up 80 per cent of its resellers for the service and the distributor is now gearing up for the second stage of Online Warehouse development which will see batch order entry introduced.
Several resellers have already put the Online Warehouse through its paces with mixed reactions. According to a Tech Pac spokesperson, while some resellers claimed the Warehouse was " a very user-friendly system" others revealed reservations about the site's capabilities but refused to elaborate.
Tech Pac initially intended to develop its own e-commerce solution, but instead chose to buy a transaction-oriented application called Speedware from the Canada-based software specialist of the same name. In order to access the Online Warehouse, resellers can subscribe to Tech Pac's Web-site at http://www.techpac.com.au for registration.
