NEC Australia last week unveiled the latest incarnation of its IT business, reorganising its IT channel business into one rather than three groups.
In a move designed to focus its resources on the converging computer and communications business, the company's IT channel business will be conducted through the Personal Products Group (PPG) with direct business handled by the Corporate Network Solutions Group (CNSG).
The PPG portfolio includes NEC servers, desktops, notebooks and printers. Other IT products such as monitors, data projectors, plasma screens and some consumer products will be absorbed steadily into the group in coming months.
The amalgamation of products from three disparate business groups will focus NEC's IT channel strategy on the new PPG.
The PPG is to be headed up by Julian Walthew, assistant general manager, sales and marketing. Walthew affirmed that NEC was committed to its established channel of Platinum Dealer Partners, dealers and distributors.
Among other appointments to the new structure, Paul Grady, former NEC Information Systems' general manager, sales, becomes assistant general manager for the Corporate Network Solutions Group.
