IBM program furthers network computing

IBM will continue its relent-less advocacy of network computers with a new program, QuickStart, designed to aid resellers in deploying IBM Network Stations into enterprise computing environments.

The program consists of what IBM is calling a "thin server", which is essentially a low-cost IBM PC 300GL acting as a boot server, management server, and console.

One thin server can manage as many as 75 users, according to Howie Hunger, IBM's director of channels and marketing.

IBM plans to offer its Network Stations with Citrix's Independent Computing Architecture (ICA), a protocol that connects any client to applications running on a Windows NT
