Australian developer Focus Software last week initiated a three-month reseller training program set down for November that it hopes will bring its partners up to speed with the vendor's just-released accounting software package, Greentree.
One of eight resellers chosen for the program is Melbourne-based William Dowling and Associates. It will have the chance to sell Greentree into a range of customer sites following the completion of a 20-user, beta-test program initiated this week. According to William Dowling's managing director, Richard Dowling, the training course, which leads Focus Software's resellers through basic introductory courses to more specific training in applications such as Debtors/Creditors, will be a vital asset when it comes to selling the software to customers.
Focus Software officials hope that this initial training program will be the springboard for its resellers to meet the vendor's expectations of signing up about 20 customer sites to beta test the software package.
According to Richard Jones, Focus Software's Australian general manager, reseller interest in the Greentree software has been generated by the software's ability to "provide mainframe-type features in lower-cost Windows and NT operating environments."
Greentree version 1.0, which will be available in December, is devised from JADE, an object orientated database developed by the Cardinal Group in New Zealand.
It features full commit and rollback functionality and automatic database recovery in the event of power shutdown. Applications include General Ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, foreign currency and systems tools.
