Storage vendor EMC has opened a Partner Support Centre (PSC) in Sydney and announced two new Web-based application tools.
The PSC is one of seven across Asia-Pacific and is designed to give partners access to technical support, as well as streamlining service level agreement clearance.
Other PSCs are located in Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore and Bangalore.
The PSCs will be supplemented by a Partner Support System (PSS), an online interface for constructing storage solutions for the SME market.
The PSS features information on sales, marketing and training.
EMC general manager for channels and alliances, David Henderson, said EMC planned to guide all partners through PSC operations by October.
To coincide with the official launch of the PSCs, EMC has overhauled its Web-based Content Management System (CMS) tool, launched in conjunction with its Velocity partner program last year.
Henderson said the CMS was prompted by feedback from partners requesting more information on storage solutions.
Although EMC’s storage guides might be child’s play to several of its global partners, the tool would provide a useful guide to those trying to build into the storage market, he said.
“There’s a segment of the industry that still has a level of black magic,” he said. “We want to build up those skills. What CMS will do is take you from chapter one of storage all the way through.”
Already well established in the enterprise space, the three partner initiatives would act as the foundation stones for a push into the SMB market, Henderson said.
“These partner initiatives are about getting ready for SMB expansion in our channel,” he said. “We want to demonstrate to the channel that we have a long-term commitment to them.”
