South Australian system builder Microbits has announced its accreditation to manufacture Intel-approved servers at its inner Adelaide complex.
As an Intel-authorised solutions provider, Microbits is now enabled to build Intel servers that compete with the major brands.
According to Microbits business development manager Tony Rowe, the accreditation puts Microbits into the tier-one market, competing with multinational vendors for a share of the lucrative corporate and government market.
Intel national sales manager Archie Wilson described Microbits as "an illustration of the benefits of Intel's simultaneous release of server technology in all markets and channels".
Max Mentiplay, Microbits' managing director, said: "This is another step in our program to bring to South Australia skills in technology equipment production and products that meet the needs of both the government and business sectors."
It is understood that Microbits is looking to develop a mix of direct and partner-based sales.
Established as a startup in 1983, the company now employs 65 people.
