Cabletron signed its final Spectrum reseller agreement with Anixter, the last of eight planned by the company, last week.
Anixter will join other Spectrum resellers, Full Spectrum, Anite Australia, Anite New Zealand, Compaq, Scitec, Martin Communications and EDS.
Earlier this year, Ian Fewtrell, Cabletron Australia's managing director, said Cabletron planned to appoint only eight resellers to prevent the market from becoming "polluted".
"That's it, there's no more," he said of the Anixter deal. The company is understood to have received up to 14 applications this year for the eight reseller slots.
Anixter will pay Cabletron $50,000 for the right to sell the enterprise network management product - the same amount it charged the existing resellers, Fewtrell said.
Fewtrell said the agreement with Anixter reconfirms his commitment to pursuing a strong channel strategy in the local market.
