A year since opening its e-doors, online retailer e-store is staring at its first million-dollar month, according to managing director Steven Spilly. The e-tailer announced it has launched eight new departments as well as splitting its computer section into three segments.
Spilly said that in the IT category, Tech Pacific is a major supplier and fulfilment partner, but claimed it is adding more supplier companies that meet the requirements of the e-store model.
Tipped to be among them is Acer Computer, which he said will be supplying desktops and notebooks. The arrangement with the PC vendor is expected to be finalised shortly, with fulfilment likely to be from its recently completed configuration centre in Sydney.
According to Spilly, as well as integration with the e-tailer's computer systems, suppliers have to meet its service standards criteria such as turnaround. "All our suppliers must be able to provide 12 months warranty as well as technical support," he said.
As well as software, computers and games, the new departments are electronics, health and fitness, music, kitchen, mobile phones, home and lawn care, climate control and laundry.
"We sold a washing machine on the first day of trading for the new laundry department," he added. While the distribution model is tailored to suit each store, Spilly said that e-store has maintained the original concept, and claimed it would be on track for $3 million a month turnover by the end of the year with or without the additional departments.
