Firewall Systems has stopped distributing for security vendor, Trend Micro, with both parties blaming strategy differences.
With Trend Micro recently restructuring its channel program to leave LAN Systems as its sole enterprise distributor, Firewall Systems marketing director, Nick Verykios, said it put Firewall in a difficult situation.
"It becomes frustrating when your large resellers want to buy off you and you can't sell to them," he said. "We didn't want to keep creating demand for something that we could not sell."
Trend Micro SMB director, Dave Patnaik, said LAN Systems was now the only distributor authorised to distribute product for installations above 500 seats.
"Distributors like Ingram Micro and itX have great leverage to the SMB partner base and we want them to work on that," Patnaik said. "LAN Systems has the Cisco link and can do better business in the enterprise space."
Trend Micro has a global Cisco alliance.
Verykios said Firewall was already in discussions with several alternative security vendors.
"We are looking to do it as soon as possible because we have a customer base that wants to buy antivirus," Verykios said. "What we're really looking for is a security vendor with good antivirus that we can represent in its entirety."
