The Australian IT industry is confidently storming ahead with its growth spiral, according to recruitment consultancy Morgan & Banks. Its most recent Job Index, issued last week showed the majority of IT-related companies intended to put on more permanent staff during the last quarter of this year.
By contrast, the average intended employment growth across all industries is running at a much lower ratio.
According to Ian James, Morgan & Banks' information technology recruitment manager, the survey confirms that optimism in the computer industry has outstripped all others while the big end of town is now hiring as well.
"One of the things to come out of this survey was that it is the medium-to-large organisations that are being increasingly optimistic in their hiring intentions," James told ARN.
"Last time around, we saw most of the growth in small-to-medium enterprises, but now the larger organisations are kicking in and looking to hire as well.
"At the moment it is the systems integrators and the consulting firms who seem to be having the most recruitment activity.
"That has certainly become apparent in the last 4Ð6 weeks with the volume of work that we have been involved in," James added.
James indicated that resellers should be making moves to secure their good staff.
"With VARs, integrators and now the big corp- orations and vendors hiring, there are just jobs everywhere," he said.
