Omnis Software has launched an all-in-one development kit that includes its Omnis 7/3 version 7 software and Apple's PowerMac and 68Kmac, encapsulated on a single CD.
Containing development platforms for Microsoft's Windows 95, 98, NT and Windows 3.1, the Omnis kit allows developers to create and deliver new applications to the market in a fraction of the time that other packages take, according to the company.
Omnis is distributed through Australian developer channels, and according to one of them, some 1200 value added resellers in Australia are now pushing the issue of "rapid application development environments" that Omnis is able to construct.
David Lewis, managing director of the DLA Group, Omnis' Australian distributor, sees this software as a developmental tool rather than a complete software application in itself.
"Omnis is the architecture that organisations build their own applications with," he explained.
Lewis claimed this software provides access to Oracle, Informix, Sybase11.5 and IBM DB2 as well as numerous other databases through ODBC.
Priced at $2599, the package includes a Version Control System, online documentation and a Web enabler.
