Todaytech has secured yet another tier-one brand, adding LG Electronics to its impressive list of distribution arrangements.
For peripheral manufacturer LG, after operating on a system of wholesalers and selected direct resellers, it has appointed Todaytech as its first national distributor, in an apparent attempt to rationalise and bolster its channel strategy.
The Todaytech Group's chief executive, Jack Zhong, stressed that the appointment by LG did not mean any change to its existing brands, including Mitsubishi monitors, for which he claimed to be the largest Australian wholesaler. "LG monitors are an add-on to our existing range, and we expect there will be a lot of interest in the multimedia range. It is up to us to generate the demand, and we are comfortable with the goals and expectations we have set with LG," Zhong said.
He added that a strategy and marketing plan was already in place for the LG product range and referred to a loyalty program that would be rolled out over the next few months.
According to LG's national sales manager for IT products, Aldo Perez, the company looked at several high-profile IT distribution companies and settled on Todaytech, which he claims has won the support of several high-profile vendors.
"The Todaytech Group is our first national distributor, and has our full support," Perez said.
It is understood that LG has no plans to expand its distribution to other national organisations at this stage. "Todaytech will distribute the entire LG range and represent 50 per cent of our channel business," Perez added.
LG's new distribution strategy is a result of growth in demand, Perez claimed, but he insisted the focus is on its high-end product range, especially in the corporate market. Zhong explained that Todaytech's renowned sales team reach and ability to sell well downstream were key to its distributor appointments, a point that Perez confirmed. Zhong also highlighted the education market as a prime target for the LG monitor range, and said that it will be quick to take action on its latest distribution status offerings.
