Online computer retailer E-Store has tapped into an online vein, having been nominated as the most successful merchant on the shopwithvisa.com.au site.
The site was launched in September, and, according to E-Store managing director Steven Spilly, it is attracting the lion's share of the click-through. `The merchants listed on the site had to jump through hoops to get there, and they all had to have special offers for Visa card users.'
Spilly said that although E-Store shares the online real estate with travel, liquor, groceries and entertainment merchants, it snared more click-through and user sessions than anyone else.
`And this converts to a better-than-average sell-through, with those registering on the Visa site and linking to a merchant having a higher chance of buying,' he added.
Spilly was particularly proud of outpointing PC vendor Dell, given that, as he described it as being an even playing field, more people who landed on the shopwithvisa site clicked to E-store. Spilly said that it attracted 17 per cent of the total merchant traffic to the site.
According to shopwithVISA, a key objective of the initiative is to build a better Internet marketplace by requiring merchant partners to meet a high standard of business practice and integrity, and by doing so instil strong consumer confidence in the Internet marketplace in Australia.
Visa audits each site and vets each merchant before selecting them to join the program.
