Timberline rethinks distribution strategy

Professing an increased commitment to the Australian market, US-based vendor Timberline Software has discarded its local distributor, Ledgerwood, and opted to reclaim the distribution of its products.

An international supplier of accounting and cost estimation software to the construction and property management industries, Timberline has been selling its products through a Ledgerwood-led web of dealers for the last 10 years.

However, in order to improve customer service and increase its market share, Timberline has embarked on a direct product supply and support model for its Australian channel partners. Ledgerwood will now become an authorised dealer.

"Ledgerwood introduced our products to the Australian market," Deb Carpenter-Beck, Timberline's director of product marketing, told ARN.

"They had a directive to establish a Timberline channel down under and they did an excellent job. Currently, we have 10 dealerships throughout Australia and this new initiative is part of a natural evolution in terms of further developing our client base," Carpenter-Beck said.

According to Timberline's director of international sales, Scott Drushella: "We're already seeing improved communication with our clients and dealers, giving us the ability to respond more quickly to the Australian market with better products and services."

Under the new agreement, Timberline will become more directly involved in the distribution and marketing of its products in Australia, while its dealers should remain the first point of contact for a 700-strong local customer base.
