Human resources giant Manpower has outsourced the management of its network and infrastructure to Melbourne-based systems integrator Integration Design in an annual and ongoing contract worth $600,000.
The contract calls for Integration Design to manage the network, server/PC systems, and Help Desk facilities, leaving Manpower free to concentrate on technical rather than support issues.
"We needed to outsource those activities that are better, more efficiently managed by a specialist organisation," Manpower's managing director, Malcolm Jackman, said.
Integration Design and Manpower have a history of network affiliation, with Integration Design over the past two-and-a-half years installing Manpower's rapidly growing wide area network that connects its 66 branches.
Manpower were providing the support for this network internally until two-and-a-half months ago when they decided that it was more cost effective to outsource the responsibilities.
According to Rael Kuperholz, Integrated Design's managing director, it was just a "matter of course" that the project work they were doing was the basis for an ongoing relationship with Manpower.
"Having worked for Man-power in some capacity for quite a while we have a good understanding of their bus-iness and communications needs," says Kuperholz.
Whilst still involved in systems integration and project work with Manpower, Integrated Design can now claim a long-term strategic relationship with one of the world's largest recruitment service organisations.
"We spent two months putting an agreement together and training staff, now Integrated Design provides network support from Auckland to Perth."
The arrangement incorporates a fully manned support desk operating between 6am and 8pm weekdays and a 24 hour, 7 day monitoring of critical systems.
