One of Australia's largest Internet-design services organisations, Spike, has won a contract to develop a large-scale global extranet for the Japanese motoring giant Toyota.
Recently announced, the deal will see Spike's team of worldwide designers building the extranet that will include financial transaction model sites for Toyota's overseas marketing division.
Spike's majority shareholder and CEO, Chris O'Hanlon, told ARN that Spike was invited to tender for the contract following the company's involvement with building Toyota's Internet-based infrastructure in Australia.
"The Japanese were very impressed with our unusual approach. We've got a reputation for moving very fast on projects," O'Hanlon said.
"They were quite impressed with the way we brought a team together very quickly and travelled halfway around the world to deal with their problems."
The result of Spike's efforts is that its team has been awarded the contract, not only to develop Toyota's overseas marketing division extranet, but also to enable Toyota US and Toyota Japan to jump on the bandwagon of e-commerce if and when they desire to do so.
The deal is expected to significantly increase Spike's turnover, with O'Hanlon predicting it to go up to around $20 million next year.
In the meantime, Spike is continuing its international market assault that resulted in a recent "six-figure" redesign of the California Arts Council information site and negotiations for the development of a mainstream entertainment online site as part of a joint venture.
