Novell officials say there is an incompatibility between Windows 95 OS Release 2's Universal Serial Bus (USB) Supplemental Support and Windows 2NCS 2.1x. If you try to test security or use the communications port, you may get this error: "MAPNASI caused a General Protection Fault in module MSGSRV32.EXE at . . ." Novell officials say the only fix is to remove the USB supplement. You may have to do this via the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs icon, disabling USB in a hardware profile, or turning it off in BIOS. If you need your USB port, then Novell officials suggest you go to the Win2NCS mapping utility and go to Options, Change Global Options. Then change the Driver Selection from 32 bits to 16 bits. You can then map your ports and test your security. Then change back to a 32-bit driver.
Qualcomm's Eudora Pro for Windows will work via a proxy server without adjustments to Eudora. But you must make changes to allow access through port 110 to check mail with POP3 and through port 143 to check mail with IMAP4. To send mail using SMTP, you need access to port 25.
Netscape's Netscape Communicator 4.5 for Unix can have a point-of-presence server added to it, but only if you do not delete all of your Internet Messaging Access Protocol (IMAP) servers. If you delete your only IMAP server, Communicator may quit.
