The organisers of the combined Comdex and NetWorld+Interop show in Sydney have announced that Microsoft is to come to the party.
Alex Feher, managing director of ZD Events in Australia, said that Microsoft's Windows 2000 World will be part of the event at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition centre from November 16 to 18.
According to Feher, the combination of Comdex, NetWorld+Interop and Windows World has been successful in other countries around the world, although each Comdex event was designed for the specific market.
When asked if the event was on track to meet its goals, Feher claimed, "It's not a Las Vegas style extravaganza, but it's looking like being the largest IT event in Australia this year."
At its launch, Feher said the goals were 250 exhibitors, four halls and 24,000 attendees.
Besides Microsoft, the vendors to have signed up are Alcatel/Xylan, Citrix, Cognos, Corel, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Newbridge, Nortel and Novell.
"While every Comdex is different, the exhibiting vendors determine the style, but the Internet will be key. Our target audience is businesses wanting to learn more about how the Internet can help them grow their businesses," Feher said.
The Microsoft commitment is understood to involve 16 of its partners.
