Technology One is continuing to establish a strong vertical market share in the government sector with its recent accumulation of a contract with the City of Perth Council to use its Finance One suite of reporting and finance applications.
The City of Perth Council went to tender and awarded the contract to Technology One in preference over "all the major multi nationals that we were competing against", claims Technology One's director and general manager, Ron McLean.
McLean added that the successful acquisition of 15 local government contracts in the last 18 months kept them ahead of the pack for the lucrative deal.
McLean also relied on the specific focus the company had on financial management and information systems to keep them competitive. "We can provide a far better quality of implementation and in a much shorter timeframe by using our own people."
He believes that the lower cost of ownership of Technology One products has catapulted it into the high end of the financial systems software market, despite being in direct competition with multinationals who have at their disposal a larger pool of resources.
Additionally McLean states that Technology One's latest finance application, Release 9, is far more advanced than most others on the market because it is fully web enabled.
