Yahoo! Asia and Visa have consolidating a world wide alliance with the announcement of Visa's new shopping guide in a bid to throw open the gates of e-commerce in Asia.
According to Jeff Perlman, Visa's director for e-commerce in the Asia Pacific, Visa is relying on Yahoo to implement this system due to the success of its other sites around the world. These exploit Yahoo!'s ability to "enhance visibility and drive traffic to merchant web sites listed on Yahoo!," claims Perlman.
The web based shopping guide features merchants targeting consumers in Asia and claims to make it simpler for businesses and clients to connect in the electronic environment.
The partnership is working seriously to fulfil its self imposed responsibility to open up the e-commerce market in the Asian region by establishing a Preferred Online Retail Partner programme that aims to encourage merchants into best of business practices in the industry.
In a similar attempt Visa are offering a "Visa Exclusive" deal on the site and Yahoo! is attempting to assure patrons of the sites security and viability through an education programme.
