TCS and RSL COM focus on SME market

Telecommunications specialist TotalCom Solutions (TCS) has entered a strategic alliance with RSL COM Australia to provide an extensive range of customer services in the telecommunications industry.

The formality of the alliance was merely an extension of the successful relationship the two companies had established in offering national, international and mobile phone services explained Paul Schoonderwoerd, TCS' managing director.

"It was a mutual decision, based on our good working relationship, financial and carriage stability, product availability now and in the future, as well as service quality," claimed Schoonderwoerd.

"TCS will concentrate on customer service in the telecommunications industry," said Schoonderwoerd. RSL COM agrees it will benefit from TCS' SME sales and marketing expertise.

TCS will be utilising its direct-sales team and national-dealer network as well as a residential channel to sell RSL COM's products and services; including national and international long-distance, mobile, Internet voice/fax, data, calling cards and mobile services.

RSL COM will contribute its global fibre-optic and satellite network to the partnership, resulting in what Schoonderwoerd claims will be a comprehensive "back to front service".

The access to RSL COM's network allows TCS to significantly broaden its range of national, international and mobile services.

The move by RSL COM is consistent with its interest in niche and vertical Australian SME segments, which was unveiled in 1997 with its acquisition of Australia Star, a telecommunications company that specialised in the SME market. Schoonderwoerd asserts that TSC's similarly strong focus on small-to-medium businesses proved to be the cementing factor in establishing the alliance.
