IBM uses its Nortel connnections

IBM has announced it will re-badge Nortel networking hardware as part of an agreement to develop server connectivity solutions.

The companies claim the partnership is designed to leverage each others' experience in the network-attached server, data interconnection, and server-to-server applications markets.

Nortel did not reveal exactly which products will carry the IBM badge headed for the enterprise customer heartland.

George Walsh, director, hardware product line, IBM S/390 Division, commented in a company statement: "Customer requirements for network-attached servers in a global e-commerce environment will drive the need for new connectivity options in the future.

"This represents a very promising relationship between our two companies," he added.

The companies did not disclose the value of the arrangement.
