Networking and communications distributor 1World has been named by data storage developer Exabyte to join Alepine Peripherals as its second distributor in Australia.
According to 1World officials, Exabyte looked for a distributor with a strong ability to grow market share, and a proven track record in graphics, prepress and multimedia markets. 1World's involvement in Sealcorp's "Brocker Group of Companies" was another factor in favour of 1World, allowing it access to the group's vast support and network design skills.
"We are very enthusiastic to be part of the Mammoth sales roll," said Rick Hancock, 1World's national sales and marketing manager, adding that the partnership "fits perfectly with 1World's model of market segments".
Part of the Canadian-based global Brocker Investment Group and a sister company to Sealcorp Computer Products, 1World will distribute all Exabyte tape products, including its new Mammoth LT and forthcoming 60GB Mammoth 2, both additions to Exabyte's popular Mammoth data storage technology.
Lucas Mueller, Exabyte's Australasian regional manager, explains that the expansion is due to "several straight quarters of double-digit growth for Mammoth drives and libraries, coupled with the strong performance of the Australian economy and the imminent release of new Mammoth tape products."
The move by 1World is consistent with the philosophy of building on its range of networking and communications hardware and software products for the DOS/Windows, Unix and Macintosh markets by working with world-leading suppliers and developers.
