ZD Events has announced that, after a first attempt a decade ago, it will again bring Comdex to Sydney. The show, which is most widely known by its Las Vegas roots, will run parallel with NetWorld +Interop at Sydney's Darling Harbour from November 16 to 18.
These dates are also significant because it coincides with the Las Vegas original. It is expected that the combined shows in Sydney will be tapping into the US, including direct feeds from the keynotes. According to ZD Australia managing director Alex Feher, this means Australian subsidiaries of US companies will be able to actively participate in product launches concurrently.
"Comdex is the channel show," claimed Feher. He described it as a meeting place for the channel and something the channel needs in terms of looking at new products.
Four halls, 250 exhibitors and 24,000 attendees are some of the targets set for the combined Sydney show. Feher was not shy about comparisons with PCIT.
"If you have a look at the exhibits at PCIT you see a lot of people buying products at the cheaper end of the scale. Comdex is very different. It is a high-end high-value show where we hope people move forward transactions worth several millions of dollars," Feher said.
