Melbourne-based distributor and assembler Bu-Tek Industries is set to launch a new onsite warranty deal to accompany the Leoptics monitors it distributes exclusively for the Taiwanese manufacturer.
Having found increasing demand from resellers wanting to offer this sort of protection to customers, MC Yuen, NSW regional manager for Bu-Tek, said it would soon be expanding the current three-year back-to-base warranties.
"We are in the process of setting up the agents and facilities around Australia to be able to put [the warranties] in place," Yuen said.
Yuen said its warranty services had been a successful selling point for Bu-Tek, which has a computerised stock control system which allows it to track all Leoptics and most other brands by their bar codes.
"Resellers and their customers don't require a proof of purchase to claim on warranty. As long as they have the serial number we will know straight away when we sold it and to whom. We will also deal direct with the customer if that is what resellers prefer," he said.
Bu-Tek's head office is in Melbourne with satellites in Sydney and Brisbane. It distributes a wide range of PC components, software and storage media as well as being involved in the assembling of systems and sale of notebooks. Bu-Tek's dis- tribution of Leoptics has enabled it to become "one of the biggest distributors of monitors in Australia", Yuen said.
As well as exclusive deals on Leoptics and FIC motherboards, Bu-Tek wholesales and distributes Vivitek, CTX Opto-Electric and Delta products, most of which are sold on price-to-performance ratios. It also does reasonably well out of Panasonic sales.
Yuen said Bu-Tek had discontinued Leoptics 14in monitors and he is expecting very competitively priced 21in screens later this year.
