Letters to the editor: Business redefined

Letters to the editor: Business redefined

The statement of Harvey Norman about the vendors' prohibition of direct-sale is pretty blunt and arrogant. If they think they can dictate other peoples' business they will lose.

The Internet, causing vendors to take on the direct sales opportunity, is a new sales medium and opportunity and I guess that the classical sales/retail outlet will only survive in branches where it is truly needed. The medieval local attitude that "you are only a business when you have a shop" is a silly slogan.

With the development of the Internet the word "business" has got a new definition. Harvey Norman will not succeed in upholding an old system and structure.

The global shopping mall and competition is on its way and no one can stop it!
