Queensland becoming Australia's Silicon Valley

Queensland becoming Australia's Silicon Valley

EL Consulting has chosen Brisbane as a new location to expand its IT headhunting activities. The decision came after its survey showed that Queensland is consistently maintaining the highest demand for IT executives in AustraliaAccording to the February edition of EL Consulting executive demand monthly index, Queensland has the largest demand for IT executives per capita in Australia. There are also indications that many companies are interested in relocating their Asia-Pacific operations to Queensland.

"We can't ignore that," said Grant Montgomery, EL Consulting's managing director, adding that "it is clear that Queensland is not only the IT flavour of the month, but is also set to become a central hub for a lion's share of international as well as Australian IT companies wishing to set up headquarters for expansion into the region."

With other branches in Melbourne, Hong Kong and Beijing, EL Consulting will remain headquartered in Sydney, yet it sees a great benefit for a large high-level IT recruitment business to have an increased presence in "Australia's Silicon State", as Montgomery branded Queensland.

EL Consulting is planning to put its Brisbane operations into full swing by the end of 1999.
