Networking vendor Cabletron Systems last week appointed IT training company Global Knowledge Network as its exclusive training partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
Rob McCabe, Cabletron technical services manager South Pacific, says the partnership is the first time the vendor's new Cabletron Technical Certification Program is available in Australia and coincides with the partnership announcement.
With Cabletron previously offering its own product and maintenance training, McCabe says: "The main reasons for the partnership were that we wanted to move towards an independent specialist training organisation, and Global are the recognised world leaders in training."
The Technical Certification Program involves product training in a network environment through Cabletron Specialist and Cabletron Systems Engineer courses.
The courses provide trainees with hands-on experience in field-related issues concerning installation, configuration, design and problem resolution. McCabe hopes the Certification program will become highly recognised within the industry.
Raj Ganatra, finance and operations manager of Global Knowledge Network, says his company was suitable for the partnership because of the IT training experience Global Knowledge has and could offer the program across 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
"I expect Cabletron came to the experts," said Ganatra.
Ganatra says a number of courses start next week and are offered throughout Australia, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra.
