BBR Information Services has added over 11,000 hardware items to its reference CD which has been used by many computer retailers to source software products and their suppliers. The CD now covers nearly 40,000 products.

First introduced 18 months ago, the monthly updated database has around 240 subscribers, according to BBR. Of those, an average of only one in 40 have unsubscribed after joining, a spokesperson claimed.

Available either as a CD or via an Internet download, The Software Directory can be used as an interactive application for customers in the store or as a tool for staff to source customer requests. It includes information about 700 publishers and/or manufacturers and 75 distributors.

Hardware covered includes computer accessories, peripherals, batteries, connectivity products, multimedia products, consumables, hubs, and memory, amongst much more. A six-month subscription to The Software Directory costs $300 for the CD and $200 if taken by download with 12 months costing $500 and $350 respectively.
