Web application and server software developer Allaire has signed a strategic partnership with Compaq in a bid to deliver an integrated hardware and software platform for the development of enterprise and e-commerce Web applications.
The partnership will see the vendors equipping developers and partners with the wherewithal required to build and maintain Web application server environments by utilising Allaire ColdFusion Web application servers and Compaq Proliant servers.
"By working together more closely, we'll give customers the close technology integration and high-quality information required to deliver and scale enterprise and e-commerce applications," said Stephen Clark, Allaire's vice president of marketing.
Allaire recently signed a "master" distribution agreement in Australia with design and development tools provider Firmware Design. And Nick McNaughton, Allaire Asia-Pacific director, told ARN that while local Web developers and VARs will "absolutely" stand to gain from the partnership, discussions with local Compaq officials over the next few weeks will determine to what extent these benefits will be felt in Australia.
Announced in the US, McNaughton said the partnership is "a big endorsement" for Allaire with Compaq seeking such a strategic alliance with the Web applications developer.
