Lexmark has confirmed the appointment of Synnex Australia as a national distributor of its range of inkjet printers, entry-level laser printers including the Optra E Plus and Optra K, and associated consumable products.
According to Norbert Kiss, general manager, business printer division, South Asia: "Synnex's national dealer network provides a symbiotic fit for Lexmark's distribution strategy and will provide Lexmark with solid access to the OEM market. Synnex's national logistics operation, with warehousing and service centres, also offers significant benefit and value-add to the dealer network."
Kiss also said that as the only printer products to be distributed by Synnex, Lexmark's inkjet and laser printer ranges complete the existing Synnex product offerings.
The managing director of Synnex Australia, Frank Sheu, told ARN that the alliance with Lexmark presents a great opportunity to make further use of a market to which, up until now, the printer vendor has not been exposed.
"We have been very active in the OEM segment, where there has been growing printer business with bundling of systems," Sheu said. "We supply OEM products such as motherboards, CPUs and hard disk drives to a large reseller base that will also move printers, and in our first week after securing the Lexmark distribution, we moved a thousand inkjets," he added.
Lexmark South Asia president John Boughton said he could not help but be impressed by the enthusiasm demonstrated by Synnex, and, as much as anything, this is what attracted Lexmark to the distributor.
