Compuware teams with Defence

Networking software vendor Compuware Australia has announced a partnering agreement with the Defence Information Systems Centre to develop its EcoSCOPE network applications management tool.

The Defence Information Systems Centre manages the voice and data network for the Department of Defence including the Army, Navy, RAAF and Defence Science Technology Organisation. The agreement will see Defence engineers have direct input into Compuware's development labs in the US as the Defence network becomes a beta site for future EcoSCOPE updates.

"As managers of one of the largest IP networks in the world, the team at Defence will provide invaluable feedback and research information," said John Sekoranja, sales director, Compuware Canberra.

"The size and scope of the Defence network and the remoteness of many of its connections provide a real insight into how EcoSCOPE can meet a broader range of networking needs," he said.

Sekoranja claims that when the site is fully rolled out it will be the largest EcoSCOPE site in the world.

Captain Mike Webster, director of operations for Defence Information Systems Centre, says the partnership will supply Compuware with an Australian perspective to networking issues as Defence provides feedback on patches, new releases, enhancements and other technical issues.

Stemming from a three-year association with the product, Webster told ARN the "comfortable arrangement" will enable Defence to customise EcoSCOPE to suit its particular needs.
