LAN Systems' CEO Scott Frew is packing his bags and heading to Belgium where he will investigate the possibility of launching a European "channel services" and distribution company.
Frew will remain as CEO of LAN Systems and will continue to stay in touch via e-mail and phone, but will largely rely on his senior management team to run the business.
"Nothing will change. The senior management team here are doing an excellent job and I'm already spending less and less time with the day-to-day running of the company," he said.
"Basically, I'm just looking for a new challenge."
Frew said he was looking at a number of opportunities "outside distribution", as well as establishing a European LAN Systems clone.
"Analysts are telling us that no one in the world is really doing what we're doing, so I'll be looking to see what opportunities there are," he said. "It's also attractive because most of the distribution companies in Europe also sell direct to end users."
LAN Systems' "channel services" model sees it selling network services through resellers, as well as fulfilling a distribution role.
Frew, who only made up his mind to go last Friday, will leave on Monday week.
