Nortel Networks has transformed super vendor Hewlett-Packard into a humble reseller for its data networking products in a bid to shift customer focus from segregated voice/data networks into a single network infrastructure.
Under the umbrella of Nortel's Global Solutions Partner (GSP) Program the two will offer consulting, design, implementation, support and financing services to enterprise customers worldwide, according to a Nortel statement.
Nortel will leverage HP's existing skills in these areas in a bid to provide total network lifecycle support.
As a GSP, HP is expected to meet certain financial, geographic, skill, and competence certification criteria. However, the benefits of the reasonably exclusive program are mutual, with Nortel promising increased sales opportunities for both organisations, penetration of new markets and increased revenues.
