Niche integrator Cogita Business Systems has secured a deal to roll out QAD's MFG/PRO enterprise resource planning (ERP) software into frozen foods producer Top Hat Fine Foods, upgrading the producer's inventory control and logistics planning.
"Top Hat's key objective with this implementation is inventory control," said Michael Keen, Top Hat's COO. "MGF/PRO was the perfect option for us. QAD was familiar with our industry and could offer the implementation in the required time."
According to Ric Henderson, Cogita's business systems sales consultant, the agreement, which is similar to one already established in New Zealand, is exciting for two reasons. "Firstly, we can offer a scalable solution to handle Top Hat's rapid growth - reportedly 10 per cent per month. Secondly, we expect to roll out the ERP solution in just nine weeks - starting on April 29 and set to go live on July 1."
As part of the deal, Cogita will be revamping Top Hat's network by providing facilities management and the leasing of routers and associ-ated hardware, said Bernadette Wilmshurst, a senior Cogitas consultant and project manager.
The approved proposal represents the formalisation of Cogita's outsourcing services, Wilmshurst claimed, which includes the laying of an ISDN link between the two organisations' Sydney operations.
While only accounting for about 10 per cent of the deal now, Wilmshurst predicted this outsourcing component will grow quickly.
"Once you have made the initial investment in the infrastructure it is easier to offer facilities management to future customers."
