After a 35-year career at IBM Australia, veteran managing director Robert Savage has announced he will retire from the computer giant this month.
Savage has spent the last 12 years in the lead role, the last nine of which saw him drive IBM's foray into China.
"Bob led the formation of IBM in China and laid the groundwork for our phenomenal growth across the Great China Group. Over the last three years, he has led Australia/NZ to record growth, said John Joyce, general manager, IBM Asia-Pacific.
Replacing Savage is experienced understudy David Thodey -- former general manager, marketing communications and sales operations, for IBM Australia and New Zealand.
Thodey's 21-plus years at IBM also include a background in marketing, distribution and the channel.
