Confusion with the US program of the same name has forced Gateway Australia to change the name of its Partners Program to "Gateway Associates".
According to Gateway's Tony Hughes, the Gateway Partners program in the US is a reseller model it inherited following the acquisition of ALR (Advanced Logic Research) and relates to the support of the former ALR server channel. "The Gateway Partners program in Australia operates completely differently to Gateway Partners in the US and to avoid any confusion we decided to rebrand the program here," Hughes said. He was keen to reassure all the partners that it is "business as usual".
The now Gateway Associates manager did not miss the opportunity to report that the program continues to bound along with currently 45 associates signed up.
"We now have more staff specifically dedicated to support the program," Hughes said. "We will soon be launching a special password protected Web site especially for the associates to download business tools and information."
Gateway's sales structure is divided into three segments - Corporate, Retail and the Associates. The Partners program was launched last year by Gateway Australia as a way of participating in the IT channel while not deviating from its direct selling mission.
Gateway is now in the process of re-signing the agreements with its associates, not to mention upgrading its stationery.
