Melbourne-based Synnex Australia, the Australian arm of another of the global distributors, has picked up another substantial piece of potential business, this time as Seagate's fourth distributor of hard drives.
In announcing the appointment, Don Kennedy, Seagate's vice president, Asia-Pacific sales and marketing, told ARN that Synnex has been a long running distributor for Seagate in the US, Japan and Europe and is its largest distributor in Taiwan.
He said that Seagate's policy was always to have multiple distributors in every country, and that Synnex Australia brings a strong range of complementary products, management and support that it seeks.
Synnex Australia product manager Kee Ong said that becoming a distributor for Seagate was in line with its stated goal of becoming the number one component distributor in Australia and snaring a 30 per cent share of the hard drive market. It also distributes Fujitsu hard drives.
The other Seagate hard drive distributors are Agate, Cosmotec and Achieva.
