With the expansion of its presence in the region and a broadening of its product range, Adaptec has ended its master distributor arrangement with Anabelle Bits in favour of a three-distributor model.
Along with Anabelle, Adaptec has added Agate and Tech Pacific.
According to Andy Ng, managing director, Adaptec Asia Pacific, Anabelle Bits had been master distributor for seven years, and was "instrumental in establishing and maintaining Adaptec's strong presence in Australia and New Zealand".
But Adaptec country manager Malcolm Parsons said from the newly established Australian office that it needs to move forward with other opportunities to expand.
Parsons described the Adaptec range as falling into three groups: SCSI host adapters, RAID and the software group, which he said will be well served by the new distribution partners.
"Resellers can look forward to a more competitive model in the form of pricing and different styles of support," he said.
He estimated the value of the business in Australia and New Zealand to be $12 million and indicated that, besides its core SCSI host adapter products, there would be significant growth in its other products.
