Netscape is looking to grab back its share of the combined mind space of the Australian and New Zealand channel by extending its Netscape Solution Expert (NSE) program into the local market.
The program is designed to provide Netscape's channel partners with an appropriate level of training and information according to their needs. These can range from basic information needed to sell Netscape Communicator through to the Netscape CommerceXpert and Application Server software products.
Anthony Miller, product manager at distributor Express Data, said: "We are pleased to see Netscape bringing the NSE program to Australia, especially at the high end of the product range - the premier level." He added: "Netscape has been doing it tough in its transition from an Internet browser vendor to a vendor of a wide range of Internet related applications." Miller pointed out that, of 513 resellers that had bought Netscape products from Express Data in the last year, 47 had bought high-end products, and the program should help grow this business.
Netscape Australia and New Zealand managing director Rob Stewart told ARN that the NSE programme has a wide range of levels catering for anyone in the channel wanting to commit their time and money to the Netscape product range. "For an investment starting at about $1500, resellers not only receive some comprehensive training, but also products such as SuiteSpot 3.5 for intranets," he said.
Stewart added: "Corporations throughout this region are deploying mission-critical applications. The NSE program will enable our local channel partners to be successful in selling, implementing and supporting Netscape enterprise solutions." Participants can choose between two levels of the program - NSE and NSE Premier.
