Networking integrator Com Tech Communications earlier this month acquired Internet developer Tech Talk Australia in a bid to offer customers end-to-end e-business solutions.
The acquisition kits out Com Tech Online - the integrator's Internet division - with the necessary technology to design and implement a complete "electronic business solution" under the organisation's new Electronic Business Enablement (EBE) model, according to Dave Jacobson, Com Tech Online's general manager.
"Tech Talk completes the online picture for us," he said, as Com Tech will now have the front-end Web development capabilities to complement its existing hardware and software back-end offerings.
"Tech Talk adds a lot of value to Com Tech in a range of areas including visual graphics and multimedia publishing."
But the big plus for Com Tech, Jacobson claimed, is in marketing a client's e-business efforts, "by positioning customers as an online presence".
He said that for Web sites to add value, they must integrate into an organisation's back-end business applications.
"By combining our back-end integration experience with Tech Talk's expertise in user interface design, market development and content publishing, we can provide our clients with an online solution and a spectrum of services, from strategy and market development right through to back-end integration, security and management," he said.
Although Com Tech has had access to Tech Talk's technology through a partial investment in the developer early last year, Jacobson believes the "one company, one solution" approach will bolster Com Tech Online's revenue. Com Tech Online is expected to generate an expected $40 million over the 1998/99 fiscal year.
Similarly, he expected Com Tech could target new customers including online e-commerce organisations and mid-sized businesses looking to make the next step in scaling up their Web-based electronic business capabilities.
Tech Talk Australia will also continue to trade in its own right, according to Com Tech, operating as a division within the Com Tech Online business group.
