Continuing its courtship with the application service provider (ASP) sector, industry champion Citrix has announced its MetaFrame product will be available on Unix.
Citrix will initially port MetaFrame to Sun's Solaris operating system.
Company officials say the product expansion is a "major step in its strategy to deliver high-speed access to any application over any device across any connection".
MetaFrame is application server software that has traditionally extended Microsoft's Terminal Server with functionality. MetaFrame on Unix gives users platform-independent access to system applications such as X.11 and Java, officials said.
