Compaq appears to be keen to clear out some old stock as it applies the razor to many of its most popular products in home and corporate markets. Claiming in a press release to be "constantly looking for ways to help our customers achieve their business goals", Compaq has applied the cuts across its most popular product ranges.
Discounts of up to 30 per cent are now available on Armada portables, Deskpro desktops, Intel-based Professional Workstations and Compaq's CarePaq services.
Compaq's awareness push of its lower prices has been directed at end users and is supported by a national advertising campaign, including substantial Web banner ads, which means there should be some additional walk-up demand for the brand.
A Compaq spokesperson said the discounts are represented in the form of adjusted recommended retail prices but wouldn't explain how this is carried through to what resellers see on their invoices from their distributors. Distributors will be informed of new wholesale prices.
