Five more PlayStation titles go platinum

With over one million PlayStation consoles now residing in Australian homes, games, and software retailers are riding the wave of popularity that is seeing consumers snap up titles to play on the home entertainment systems.

Sony Computer Corporation announced yesterday that five more titles had reached the 500,000 worldwide sales target which sees them attain platinum status and a massive cut to the purchase price.

The five titles -- Crash Bandicoot 2, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy VII, Formula 1 '97, and CoolBoarders 2 -- will now retail at $39.95 each. They are also to be supported by a national advertising campaign that is going to steer many consumers into retail outlets in search of budget games.
