The acquisition of Wang Global by Getronics has been approved by the European Commission and will go ahead early this week.
The united company's pro forma 1998 net sales amounted to 4.3 billion pounds ($US4.4 billion) and represented a combined employee count of 33 000 people across 44 nations.
The new organisation will focus on systems integration, network services, business solutions and network and desktop outsourcing, according to a Getronics statement.
To signify the merger, Getronics has introduced a new logo that incorporates the Wang Global 'arc', though Wang Global companies throughout northern and central Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region will be known as Getronics. In North America the company will be known as Getronics Wang.
Cees van Luijk will remain president and CEO of Getronics with Joseph Tucci, Wang Global's former chairman and CEO assuming the position of deputy CEO at Getronics.
