Just one week into its new distribution strategy, Compaq claimed on Friday its Compaq Connect stores are "off to a flying start" despite admissions it is still early days.
In a carefully worded statement, Compaq announced its combined Internet, retail store and call centre strategy has already referred 30 per cent of sales leads to the channel.
"The whole success of the new initiative depends on the Web, the call centre, Compaq Connect Shops, and the channel working together to meet customer needs. From what we have seen in the past week, we believe we have initiated the right strategy," Compaq boss Ian Penman touted in a press statement.
In addition, Compaq reports traffic on its buy.compaq.com.au site increased by 30 per cent during the week.
"Although it is too early to firmly identify customer trends, we were pleased to note the vast majority of enquiries and sales leads were from small businesses and experienced consumers," Penman said.
