Bill Merrick has been appointed as the new director - marketing communications at Compaq.
Merrick will be in charge of marketing the company's new brand, advertising, public relations, direct marketing, events, sponsorships and employee communications.
Merrick's new role is to position the company in the market place as The NonStop Internet Company delivering leadership in Internet infrastructure, access, services and solutions, Compaq said.
Prior to joining Compaq, Merrick was the Zurich-based managing partner of Euro RSCG International Brand Consultancy and Euro RSCG Schurmann Partner, a creative advertising agency.
Before his transfer to Switzerland, Merrick was responsible for Euro RSCG Partnership's Australian Compaq account. Merrick takes over from William Calarese who is returning to British Telecom as head of global brand alliance programs - Asia Pacific and South America.
